  1. Sorry about the multiple posts. I had a bit of trouble..
  2. Since I'm a born Welshman living in the US, I'm interested how and if all you fella's hunt in Wales. I'm from SW Wales myself, and last time I was there, I found the Gwaun Valley to be the most beautiful and peaceful place on earth. My cousin, now retired, used to deliver the Post out there. Are there hunting opportunities in that area?? Is anyone farmiliar with the Gwaun Valley?? We used to go out there and pick wild mushrooms for Sunday lamb, and watch the wild horses at the same time... Fond memories.. What's it like out there now??
  3. Sorry to hear about Clinton ntf.. Just lost my older guy to liver cancer in January.. Still hurts, We get pretty attached.. Here's my latest "go to" dog, Holly.. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid2...d7/e8d0c741.jpg
  4. I know from my British heritage (born in Wales but my grandfather was half English) that sporting types in the UK love they're Labs. I also used to subscribe ot "Sporting Gun" and "Shooting Times???". I fondly remember as a young boy in the early 1950's attending Sheep Dog trials that I found fascinating even then. The countryside was wild and beautiful, and the work of the dogs impeccable! When I came to the US as a boy, the family had the pre-requisite Welsh Corgis (Pembroke, Thank You!), mostly to ease the homesickness my Mother felt being so far from home.. Now that I'm all grown up, I keep and work Gordon (Scottish) Setters, and have done so for the last 30 years +.. You can guess I'k getting to be an old codger! So, I'm wondering, does anyone on this forum own or work with the various Setter breeds? Do you know of anyone who does? I know you'r shooting is a bit different than ours in the US, but, I'm interested in any and all replies...
  5. Deranged individuals?? Werte it not for "deranged individuals" the U.S, population would be reduced by 75%...
  6. Sorry, I was banished from that BB last year... Can't read it there. It's a loooong story!
  7. Would it be possible for the group to post some pictures of the shoot for a Yank?? Love to see them!
  8. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.. To answer a few questions... mikkey, I've got a Beretta 682 for skeet, a couple of Perazzi, assorted Winchester, SKB, A. H. Fox, and the old Remmy 1100, that we all know and love.. A few rifles kickin' around including a Dakota in 7mm Dakota, (based on the .404 Jeffrey) Assorted handguns, including a Glock 19 Compact.... Blank guns for working the dogs, a Beeman airgun, and I guess that's about it.. Wish I was heading to Wild Wales with you mikkey! Haven't been back in a good many years now. I'd like to see the house I was born in one more time before I'm pushing up daisies myself... Now, a question for the members here... I'm surprised at the amount of gun activity still available in the U.K.! The American press, which is notorious for printing lies, has painted a picture for us that private gun ownership and use on your side of the pond is virtually non-existant... Please explain... or, should I start another thread?? Thanks again for the welcome. Bill
  9. You blokes buy your vests from Cabela's in the US, and I bought mine from Ganton in the UK quite a few years ago. Also bought my Barbour from John Norris of Penrith. Small world!
  10. Greetings from the USofA.. Just thought I'd stop in and say hello. I hail from New York in the United States, and i'm an upland (rough) shooter running Gordon Setters. Also have an English Setter at the moment, but, she's a rescue.. We hunt ruffed grouse, bobwhite quail, and the occasional pheasant. I've shot Trap (DTL), Skeet, and Sporting on a regular basis for many years.. I was born in Fishguard, Wales, and spent most of an idyllic childhood there until about age 5. Back and forth after that. Quite a few relatives still in Wales, although, we're all getting on. I'm just interested in friendly discussion with peers. I've grown tired of argueing on the internet! I hope to interact and learn from all you good folks in a friendly way.... Regards, Bill
