  1. What is wrong with a 525 or 725? I was kind of looking for constructive user reviews. If a 525 has flaws which effect its long term use, I would like to know. I guess they don't?? My only experience is with a Rizzini 20 years ago, and since then both me and my dad have owned Berettas. (for 20 years). Thanks Rich
  2. No need to apologise. I understand that peoples budgets are different. Mine would not normally allow me to spend that much. Neither would the better half. I see guns at less than £1000 and up to £90,000. Mid price in that context is difficult to judge. Cheers Rich
  3. I realise that it was all tongue in cheek. Perhaps my reply didn not come accross like that. I plan on treating myself to a few lessons. I will add the 725 to my list. PS did you tell your wife how much your asenal cost??
  4. I agree, that is why I will be trying before buying. I did not ask which had the best engraving (the 682 and 686 Evo certainly do not!!!) or nicest woodwork. The F3 that was quoted has neither - and is probably out of my price range too. But what do I go and try??? That is the question, 'What to look at'? Thanks
  5. TBH - I consider £2.5-£3K a lot of money - its not money I choose to spend unwisely. (I could chose to put some other context in place, such as significant birthday approaching and tax return, but why should I have to justify what I spend? Compared to a £5500 DT11, Perazzi, or Blaser or a £10,000 S05, £2500 is mid price (and those are entry level models, from what I can tell!) When you earn my money, you can tell me how to spend it. - Or are you my wife New to game? - My 687 was new to me in 1987 = 25 years? I have had a bit of time out of the sport recently, and was trying to catch up on peoples opinions on the more recent gun releases. Thanks for the other helpful inputs.
  6. Hi all, What guns should I look at if I am looking for a low-mid proce clay gun. (£2500-£3000) I currently have a Beretta 687 deluxe 28" M/C and was looking for a change. I used to do a bit of pigenon shooting, but clays only now. I was looking at a Beretta 682 Gold E with 32" barrels. The shop also pointed me at a 686 Evo with 32" barrels. What other guns should I look at in this price range. I am looking at new. Cheers Rich
  7. Thanks to all for your help. I already got the forms dowloaded to infor the Fire Arms dept. Wasn't sure wht to do on my cert - nothing apparently!!! Cheers Rich
  8. Hi All, I am planning to transfer (give) a gun to a relative. But I am not sure how to complete table 2 on MY shotgun certificate. Column B will say 'Given', But I am not sure whos name and address goes in colum D, and who signs Column F... His certificate will get my namd and address, and signature, as the 'giver'. Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance. Rich
  9. Hi, I am looking for a takedown case for my Beretta 687 28" Barrel. Has anybody seen or won one of the soft Beretta Takedown cases (there are several models, but looking at the 'High Performance' one) I haven't been able to see one in the flesh, but seen a few online. Any other reccomendations? Thanks Rich
  10. I have only one 'bead' (mine is a long square plastic thing), but having tried the trick with the pound coin, I think I do not have too much visibility of the rib. The rest of your advise is exactly what I have been doing, just not enough!! A family friend once told me exactly what you described even down to following the coving joint. Thanks again to all replies
  11. Utetok - 'im with stupid' not sure if that means you agree or disagree!!! That sounds sensible! I will try that.
  12. Thanks for the quick reply guys! Firstly - it looks like my estimation of size was poor. Secondly I need to practice consistent mounting! Looks like I can see les rib than I thought. Tried the trick with the pound coin 20cm from breech and it nearly obscures the bead on the end. Secondly - super shapr shooter - you are spot on it is what you hit, not what you see - i just need to hit a few more clays! I am a bit rusty after 15 years since shooting regularly. Cheers Rich
  13. Hi All, What is the correct sight picture for a sporting shotgun. After a long break from the sport, I have broken out my beretta and wonder if I have the mounting correct. Should I be able to see the rib of the barrels (about 1/2"-1" in height if that makes sense) or just the bead at the end so the rib is essentially not visible? I do not look at either whilst shooting, but when dry mounting I see the rib above the barrels. Is this wrong? Thanks
  14. If you buy the B2, you might find that it will put you off the sport, rather than encourage you! A FN12 Lighthunter with scope and mags for £120 is a bargain. They are basic PCPs, but accurate and usually reliable. The FN12 will need filling more often than 60 shots I would think. Some say the magazines are not the most reliable, others do not have any problems with them. Look at uttings.com for details of the FN12. Rich
  15. I agree, that if you want to use a silencer, the best bet would be to swap barrel and cylinder. I didn't use a silencer, and in my opinion the shorter overall length (including MFC) made the gun nicer to shoot., and better looking. Just my preference though. Rich
  16. Hi, It is definitely possible. I used to have one done like that. I think the conversion was done by Hydrographics, but not certain as I got it S/H. the carbine barrel will not reach the figure 8 clamp on a classic cylinder, so an air stripper was made to extend to flush with the end of the filler cap, and the figure 8 needs to be modded to a larger diameter hole for the air stripper. The rifle looked and handle better than either the carbine or classic im my opinion, (mine was in a thumbhole stock). I think that you will have problems with a silencer though - will have to be removed for filling. I wish I had kept mine, as it was a cracking gun. Rich
