Yep we do have some quirky laws that don't always make sense. I'm guessing most shooters won't admit to anyone in here if they shoot a game bird with an incorrect calibre or load or rule of thumb s1 or s2 weapon. I bet more than 90% of shooters have done. But keep that to yourselves. Sorry for the delay. You can shoot all game with a section 1 shotgun that you would also use a section 2 on. Mainly avian. It comes down to what type of projectile is appropriate for each quarry not the quantity the weapon contains. I would use a section 1 rifle (308 5.56 for example) for deer but not a section 1 shotgun. Basically a sec 1 or 2 shotgun can be used for the same thing when hunting. Logical thinking would confirm that a 2 or 10 shot shotgun with the same ammo has no difference apart from cartridge quantity. Therefore has exactly the same effect no matter which is used. Yeh at BASC she said it's GL 41 or 42 I think it's 42 last I looked. Like other GLs no need to apply just follow the rules.

Right we can put this to bed. I'm with BASC and I've just rang firearms. It's 100% LEGAL to use S1 shotgun on Canada goose. As long as steel or bismuth shot is used. It's just classed as crop protection and vermin control. Also the BASC operator is ex Lancashire firearms officer who only left last August 2023 So there we have it for me to share so it's straight from the horse's mouth. 100% LEGAL TO USE S1 SHOTGUN ON CANADA GOOSE 👍👍👍👍

I put that very use on goose in my application. Also a section 1 shotgun uses the same ammunition as any other. So if it's illegal could you please explain why? Think of a s2 semi holding 3 or a s1 holding 6 What's the difference to make it illegal. I know we have some odd laws but cartridge capacity seems odd.. Please reply I'm surprised by your response. 👍 Just read somewhere there maybe confusion amongst us Mine is a magnum steel proofed and can shoot bismuth so it should be legal 👍 Also like I put down on my vary app GOOSE, CROP PRODUCTION, VERMIN & PEST And just to clarify I have not used the gun yet so broken no laws as to its use. I will double check with RFD beforehand on picking up my ammo 👍

I know I'm 7 years late. I've just bought a gun from Cornwall and I live greater Manchester Sent my licence to firearms dealer in Cornwall Gun seller brought the gun in and did all the paperwork Paid for the gun with bank transfer Firearms dealer now sending gun to my local firearm dealer and my license back to me. When my licence arrives and the gun arrives at the shop I will take my license and pay the fee and collect the gun I also paid the fee for the firearms dealer by adding £35 of the price of the gun the sellar paid the RFD So if you buy through RFD transfer ask the RFD of the seller to accept your license it's more secure than sending to someone you don't know. Hope that helps anyone who Google's the question and only finds this page 7 years later 😂👍

Hi.. it's me again.. only 5 yrs behind this time but only uses RFD transfer this week for first time. Ive bought an fac shotty from Bodmin Cornwall off gunstar and I live Stockport. Paid £35 to RFD in Cornwall and £35 to Cheshire gun rooms here. For my benefit I sent my license to the RFD in Cornwall and then the gun was brought in and then I paid for it. So that's worth £35 all day long. Also it's about 700 mile round trip so £35 to collect it here without having to leave the house from even seeing the gun for sale online is worth every penny as well. Plus I'll pick up some ammo for it as well on collection. Rfd to RFD for me especially in this case is worth every penny in saving on time off work. Traffic for about 6 hours to get there and the same to return. The fuel cost. How much I've bored you all with this reply 😂😂😂 Yeh in some cases it's worth it. Nearly new and brought back from America and had over £500 parts from Brownells on it. I paid £300 plus £70 rfd For a 6 shot turkey thumper. Mossy 88 mav 5+1 shot pump. As Loreal say.. that's worth it. But if it's under 100 mile and you can drive go and get it yourself unless the gun is worth another £70 sat in your **** then outsource it. Good talk 👍

Hi. Got the slot for fac shotgun. On the conditions just says use on land perms and it also says can be used for clay shooting but I have a gun for that.. This is for live quarry. 👍 Haha.. yeh I hate premature shooters lol. I usually goose shoot on my own and when they've gone they've gone for the day. So a few good shots without having to reload would be a Brucie bonus. But not a sporadic panic to empty the gun. You don't have to finish off the mag lol

I'm in the process of filling in my vary for fac shotty. So best option seems to be used for Crop Production. If they ring me to explain I guess I say because I can get 10 shots off before the flock disperse.. Sound ok?

I don't think anyone will tell tales on you for using one. You tell me of any farmer who would say to you... Shoot the crows for me but don't use a caller 😂 Unless you have a well versed rural cop you're not gonna get into any mither. I can't take the misses shooting cos she scares em to death.
