Evening guys.
Long time reader, first time poster so bear with me!
I'd like a 17 HMR rifle, ideally a CZ Varmint with a moderator.
My folks (and I kind of...) live on a farm in Gloucestershire, and my step-dad has .22LR and a .22 Short rifles, and recently under supervision I've been using the .22 LR to try and control the bunny population a bit.
I've decided that I'd now like my own FAC and a .17 HMR rifle after reading some of the reviews.
Here's where I flood you with questions
The farm land is already approved as it's my step-dad's and he has .22 approval (and shotguns), so I'd assume getting it OKd for 17 HRM would not a be a problem?
The house already has an arms chest, so I'd be using that, again I assume thats fine.
Here's a tricky one though, I live 50% of my time there "at home" and 50% of my time in Cardiff. I am planning to have the FAC registered in Glos, as the land is there, as is an arms chest. WHat would happen though if I wanted to move my rifle down to Cardiff? It's a different police authoirty, so would I need to apply all over again? I'd put in an arms chest there, and I assume find more land I can shoot on, and have it approved - anyone got any info on this??
As for experience, I have a fair bit of exposure to .22 rimfires on the above mentioned farm, under supervision etc. I also have a lot of experience on indoor ranges with 0.22LR. I'm a qualified RAF Weapons Instructor and Range Conducting Officer, so have a fair amount of expierence with 5.56 centre fires through that.
I assume I'd have no problem with the above experience applying for a 17 HMR rifle? I've read on here some people get turned down for them on the grounds of experience, told to get a 22 instead. I'd hope my experience would mean this won't be a problem.
Thanks for your help!
