  1. Just wondering before I join if there is any land on the NPPC list near to Leicester? Thanks, Mike
  2. I work as a driller on an Oilrig in the North sea

    bio diesel

Think very hard about using a mix in a modern/ common rail system. I know the pumps Ford use are very sensitive and expensive to repair. Also it will invalidate any warranty on any diesel vehicle. However it does work fine on the last generation of diesel engines.
  4. Hi, If you are in East Yorkshire, Yorkshiretrading head office/warehouse is in Driffield and they have a big, very cheap sale at the warehouse each year. Definately worth finding out when it is. There gear is cheap and cheerful but sturdy, I use the Rydale fleeces and they last ages getting tumbled dried every other day in an industrial laundry.
  5. Good Luck Clarissa, Lets hope we see a victory for common sense, country people and their way of life. Mike
  6. I believe the new ones have a problem with clutches failing prematurely and with rear wheel bearing/halfshaft problems possibly caused by faulty assembly. I know of both these happening to people I know Try a google search with Nissan Navarra problems it comes up with a few common problems with the new ones.
  7. I think I read in one of the Leicester local papers that the Quorn hunt is using an Eagle owl to take a fox after it had been flushed out. Birds of prey are amazing, I know they cause damage to pheasant poults etc etc but they are very beautiful creatures. Mike
  8. Hi, Another good tip is to keep it in dark bottles or in the dark as sunlight will turn the nice purple colour to a mucky brown. Still tastes good though! Mike
  9. I was wondering if there is any mechanical differences between a Gd 1 gun or a Gd5 gun. I realise that the wood will have better figure and it may be finished a bit better but are the actions and barrels any different, better finished or will last longer? At my level I need a gun that will reliably fire 1000s of shells without breaking down whilst I learn what its all about but could be tempted to go to a higher grade if the mechanical parts are better than a lower grade. Mike
  10. Hi, I would always go for the best quality that you can afford and keep away from too many gimmicks, especially on a hunting scope. I run Bushnell Elites 3200 on both my Stealth and on my Rapid, both came from USA via USA Fleabay. They are both genuine, and I have registered the guarantee to check this. I got both to my door for £250 ish, you cannot buy one in this country for that. Watch out for fakes!!! there are loads about. Mike
  11. Hi, Has anybody had any experience of a Webley and Scott 900 series O/U. I noticed they have a lifetime guarantee and can be got new for £600 ish. Just wondering if the sporter would make a good all round gun for me. Mike
  12. I live in Whitby and have worked with a lot of fish and smoked fish - your hands can stink, those "stainless bars of soap" are amazing. The smell is just gone, don't know how, but they work. A great thread but as has been said there are more than one way to skin a cat!
  13. I am new to pigeon shooting, I also do a bit of clay shooting both sporting and skeet. I have a Miroku MK38 sporter which I use for everything. Its great at the sporting clays, not so good at the skeet and a bit of a pest to keep breaking open in a hide. Anyway the stock has developed a crack and to cut a long story short the gunshop where it came from will take it back as I have only had it a couple of months. I am hoping to buy something of an all rounder or maybe 2 guns. Would a shorter barrel semi for skeet and in the hide be practical leaving me a dedicated sporter for sporting clays or is it feasible to get another set of barrels for something like a berretta silver pigeon to suit all my needs? I am erring on the side of a semi but would like a bit of advice
  14. Yep, I guess you are right, if I follow the same rules as when using my rapid ie make sure you are going to kill with the shot you take, I will be ok. The permisson I have has FAC for an air rifle on it already, however I will check with landowner to see if he has any problem with the extra noise or if I need fibre wads, I only have plastic wad clay carts at the moment. From what I have read 28g #6s seem to be the tool for the job for pigeon. Is that right? Thanks for the welcome
  15. Just a quick message to say Hi and to introduce myself. I have been looking at the site for a little while now and find it helpful and informative. I have been shooting rabbits, crow and pigeon with an air rifle for a number of years now but have recently taken up clay pigeon shooting whilst in Leicester. I have not tried pigeon shooting with my Miroku MK38 yet as I don't think I am good enough on the clays yet but I'm sure I will get there in a while, in the meantime the rapid sorts them out.
