Well they have started on the Barley in Oxfordshire this morning, first two fields finished. Trouble is I can't shoot them as too close to houses and military base. But it won't be long until the shootable fields are cut . So lamping tonight and then (hopefully) pigeons on some stubble for the rest of the week. If this weather keeps up the OSR will be cut by the end of the week. Good job I'm retired now otherwise I don't know how I would find all that time I am going to need . Better go and tidy the kitchen and hoover the lounge - just to keep things sweet .

I’m driving up to Scotland on the 17th of September but dropping into Clay & Game on the way up to get some supplies so if anyone in Oxfordshire wants anything bringing down give me a shout. You’ll need to phone them with your order and pay over the phone, I’ll pick up and we can arrange a drop off and a bit of petrol money for myself. I’ll be heading back down on the 21st of September.

Always good news! We have a new Sunday shoot based in Waterperry, Oxfordshire. Its first shoot was today (Sunday 21 July). Shooting was from 10am to 2pm with the last card at 12:30. Normal format: 100 birds over 10 stands and you could opt to shoot 50, 80 or 100. 100 cost £24 which is very fair! [Fibre Wad Only] There was a good mix of targets which I am sure will develop as time goes by. There were two long distant crossers that were a challenge to even the most experienced shot but otherwise the targets were good fun and a realistic challenge. The ground is a green field location so there isn't any cover which means you get to see the clay from trap to break, this can be quite a challenge if you are like me as it gives you too long to think and re-think each target. The ground has good toilets and very acceptable bacon butties with free tea and coffee. What makes this shoot slightly unique is that there is a bar/restaurant on site. Obviously the bar is for AFTER shooting but the restaurant offers a great Sunday lunch in very pleasant surroundings. If you do fancy lunch it is probably worth booking ahead or dropping in as you arrive to reserve a table (inside or out in the garden). We did give it a go as it was our first visit and have to say the roast pork (their own) was excellent.
