  1. We took Logan out to one of our permissions today to see how he would get on. OH took his gun and I left mine behind to concentrate on Logan. We had a mooch round the fields, but nothing was showing so went up to the woods. Logan was tracking a scent within minutes of us getting into the woods and next minute a pheasant flew across us. Sadly OH missed it, so we carried on. Logan was doing a great job looking round all the woods circling us and pointing at the odd rabbit hole, but nothing was showing. It was interesting seeing the much gentler style of setting up that a Setter does compared to the much more manic work of Leo the Springer. Eventually we went across the fields and OH spotted some pigeons and downed one. Unfortunatley it landed on the ice on one of the ponds, so we didn't send Logan to fetch it. OH managed to retrieve it with a branch and then let Logan fetch it for me which he did enthusiasticly. I dropped it in the grass a couple of times on the walk back and Logan went tearing back to find and fetch it for me each time. Very pleased with how he is progressing so far.
