Thought i would introduce my 7 month lab to the shotgun on Saturday , So out i went with auto culto and let him fire off a few shots away from the dog . She didn't even flinch a muscle . We then decided to let her have a hunt around some of the hedge rows after a bit of gentle persuasion and me going in the bottom of the hedge she went in and had a scurry round . After that she went straight in another bush with her backside hanging out and her tale was going mad so i went to see what the fuss was about and out she came with a dead partridge in her mouth and judging by the smell :hmm: it had been shot and not found from the week before ..

By this time i was very pleased with her . So off we went and flushed some of the hedge rows and out came some partridge , i missed but auto hit so i sent the dog for it and back she came with a perfect retrieval . One thing i did notice is how much faster they bring a real bird back instead of the dummie . After this we had a few more shots and another hit she now knows when the shotgun goes bang there is a bird down ears straight up and tail wagging ..... And to top the weekend off i took her for a swimming lesson at the local stream / pond which she performed great with and even did a few retrieves from the water .
