saggy61
Hi all I was looking through some of the posts on here and noticed that some people were using old plastic electric fence posts to use as a steak on the bottom of their home made hide poles. Well here is what i have done with mine: I had some old angle iron lying about so i cut it to about 10 inches long and made a point on one end Then simply welded them on. In this way you don’t loose any of the height and they seem to be just right, but remember to take off the plastic stopper off the base or the pole or it will stink your shed out when it melts as it did to me. you can notice that the angle iron is wider on one side than the other that makes it perfect to push it into the ground with the heal of your boot but if you wanted you could weld a extra plate across to make a foot plate, as with mine you have to make sure you get it right or you have a nasty graze up the inside or your ankle... adam1
I'm not trying to get into a mines better than yours thing but i must admit i prefer my fencepost conversion as the spikes will be much easier to get in the ground than the angle iron and add almost no weight, oh yes and i've not got a welder Adam
