unclestuffy
I am looking at one of these new hides that appears to be a small tent, with holes in a "realtree AP" finish. For those that has used them I have some questions: Is the slots in the side of the tent too restrictive for shooting (a bit like Corporal Jone's wagon in Dad's Army)? Is a one person tent too small? Am I better off sticking with the hide netting and poles? Thank you
Cosd
Depends on what type of gun you're using. Better for airguns than shotties. I don't know how new you are to the sport, but these "press a button and it's errect" type hides always seem to appeal to new shooters; I was one of these people, used it a few times then sold it on. Poles and a net are much more versatile, very quick to put up and easier to carry in my opinion. And in answer to your question, a 1 man hide is usually quite small. Whereas a standard 4m net can make you a 3' x 3' square hide for a single person or a 3 sided 2m x 1m two person hide against a backdrop. You can adjust the height on a net and poles whereas the pop up hide is a fixed height. My vote, hide and poles all day long Edited October 29, 2009 by Cosd
unclestuffy
Thank you. I am new to the sport of pigeon shooting. I thought that the netting would be the best option (which I have already got) but it is worth asking around - I will stick to the pole and netting. Marley29
As above mate. Friend of mine got one of these which works well on rabits with a rifle but is useless on the pigeons. You cannot see above your head and they also make it difficult to swing the gun. My mate has sold his now as it was a waste of time. Stick to the net and poles Mick
rlewis
I think they are only good if you want a quick few hours shooting on your own as it is quick and easy to erect but i would'nt personal have one. Has anyone of you seen the one in the sporting shooter a few months back and to be honest it did look good and warm !!!!
utectok
someone in pw said if your only out for an hour you can just sit by a fence very very still no hide! That said for shottie work poles and netting are best I should have thought.
