arjen
Hello, Together with a few friends I visit the UK every year around august for some pigeonshooting in the area of Lincolnshire. This year the people in the local gunshop told us that the pigeonshooting is much better in spring/ end of winter. So now we are wondering what is the ideal month for pigeon shooting? March or maybe April? Thanks you all, cheers from the Netherlands, Arjen
Cranfield
They are referring to the Spring drilling period, normally it starts in March and goes into April, but it is very weather dependant. A wet spring will delay it by weeks. Its probably worth checking nearer the time you intend to visit.
arjen
Thanks! Problem is we have to book our holidays early, so if you had to pick a week in March-April now what would be safe? Looking at your reply I would say end of march, beginning of april? Arjen

Like said above spring drilling can be delayed due to the weather and then it is down to how much seed is dropped and the type of seed bed ! like i say for me its march for maize and may for peas !
