Spaniel
Was up and out very early this morning and got down to the foreshore around 6am. In the dark I could hear plenty of Wigeons and even had some fly straight over my head but i was not quick enough. We even sat and watched a seal bobbing its head out of the water about 20ft from us, very nice sight to see. Plenty of Lapwings about as normal and even seen 3 Shelducks. Wind really picked up and when the rain came down it was actually starting to sting on my face, but being the great white hunter i never cried Anyway I managed to bag my first ever Teal today, looking forward to cooking it for tomorrows tea... Spaniel
By all accounts there were plenty of geese flying up the channel last weekend, Slimbridge is full of Wigeons and Teal and there must be hundreds of Greylags up there but they dont fly far, thats for sure. But it was good to see them anyway yesterday... I even saw a Canada flying with the Greylags, never seen that before I cut the Wigeon breasts into small strips last week and fried them with peppers and garlic, delicious mate. Think i will be frying the Teal and adding it to my Stew tomorrow night

scolopax
Teal are probably the best duck for eating, try just plain roasting it, delicious!

MC
I'd go along with that, Teal is without doubt the finest eating bird there is. Just roast it with some salt and pepper long enough for the skin to go crispy. About 20 minutes will do it.
