CROMWELL Posted November 24, 2009 Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 had a look today over beans about 2" tall,one or two birds beginning to look interested.Anyone been tempted to to set up and have a proper go yet -how long do I wait? Catamong Posted November 24, 2009 Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 Not until about August next year, when they're cut, they don't feed on newly sprouted bean plants, the birds you've seen are probably picking up the odd bit of chickweed or other foodstuff, but not the bean plants. Posted November 24, 2009 Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 Birds dont feed on beans at this stage of growth unless it has been badly drilled and some on top just chitting . Next time they will take a gander is when and if in late sept early oct if it goes a bit flat or after being combined. The birds might be picking up some grit for digesting acorns or beechmast or there might be some chickweed inbetween the beans.
