Air Rifle Pellet Size

I have a pre-anti tamer weihrauch hw100, i am now thinking about ordering bulk tins of pellets and came across head size 5.51 & 5.52. Obivously ones bigger than the other, but whats the thinking behind it?:blink:

Some guns prefer different head sizes, for example, my S200 loves 4.51s but shotguns with 4.52s.

I've got the A/T HW100S full length and have tried all three sizes in AA Fields. I'd recommend that you get one tin of 4.52's and a tin og 4.51's and check the chrono'. There's about 0.3 ft/lb difference between 4.52 and 4.51 in my gun and the larger ones are right on the wire. Once you've sorted which to use you can buy in bulk.

Thanks for that, think i will get a few tins of each and try before i buy in bulk. would the friction of the bigger size make a difference to the fps???

In my HW100 the 4.52 come out faster than 4.51, and they are faster than 4.5. That's why I suggested trying them through a chrono' as well as group accuracy. In my gun the 4.52's are very close to the limit.

I would just get one tin of each, try them out on a NO WIND day for accuracy. Too much is put on FPS its accuracy you want,

 

 

If you can get to a club most members will let you have a few to shoot

I find both the same, although I normally get the larger ones.

Doesn't even affect zero on my s510
