casts_by_fly
Hi All, Further to my quail thread below, I still need some birds for dog training. In the US we'd use Chukkars a lot as they weren't a game species and you could shoot them year round. They also flew really well but weren't so big as to scare a pup. Partridge here are more or less the same bird. So does anyone know where I could buy some red-legs or grey partridge from? I'd be looking for just a few birds to start, but this spring I'll need a few more. Where do shoots that 'top up' their birds in-season get their birds from? Do they have extra pens on the shoot that they just don't release right away? Thanks Rick
fortune82
I would be surprised if any game farms have any left to sell at this stage in the season. They will have laying stock but I doubt will sell it. In my experience shoots that top up do so from stock already on the shoot that has not been released yet. We got our partridge in september to start shooting in November and they were the last lot of birds our game farmer had. Paul
