John_R
I used to make a lot of my own fishing lures, some of which needed lead. My usual sources were lead flashing either obtained used from when we did any roofing work, or if I wanted new I would buy a roll from Wickes and cut what I wanted to melt. If you get friendly with a tyre fitter you can sometimes get the old wheel balance weights and melt the lead off. This source is usually higher in Antimony and therefore harder. I even made an ingot mould by welding a few short pieces of angle iron together.

harry mac
Both Lee and Lyman do an ingot mould. Don't bother tying to use wheel weights any more as a source of bullet alloy. The modern ones are all made from a zinc alloy. Imanaged to get a shed load of weights from my local Kwik-Fit and very few were useable, and I got filthy in the process of sorting them out. The best source I've found, other than range scrap is builder's lead flashing, but you do need to add tin to it unless you're loading for a low velocity cartridge.
