apache
Could be a scratch on the cornea (front of the eye) but can have things stuck in the eye (thorns). You need to go and see a vet tomorrow - get some dye put in the eye to check for damage, and then likely a course of eye drops.
ziplex
hi my spaniels left eye is badly swolen after beating yesterday he will let you touch it and it has been bathed what can cause this and what should i do soph My gsp had a large swelling over her eye, in fact her eye was closed........the mrs insisted I take her to the vets where 5 mins later I was charged £80 for a jab, which she reacted to . I was going to leave it overnight which i've done in the past and bathe it every few hours. Usually works unless there is something in there. apache
she had this problem with him the last time he went beating do this mean he will need eyedrops everytime? BB Unlikely. Some dogs are more clumsy than others and hurt themselves frequently. Always the chance it's a kind of hypersensitivity (=allergy) but unlikely. ziplex
the surrounding area with the eyelid being only part open BB for soph I'd guess come morning it'll have settled down, if not then a trip to the vets. Keep bathing it every few hours, it's happened to ours a few times and always settled
garyb
Give it 24hrs and see.. Although blackthorn and eyes are bad news... keep an "eye" on it til the morning? You can safely bathe it with Human Optrex (Original) to see if that helps ease it a tad. GB
Delbert
Check under the eyelids particularly the lower its quite common for a bit of vegetation seed or other detritus ( even an eyelash) to lodge in there and worth thoroughly irrigating ( another 10 point word for washing ) even if you cannot see anything.
