Blackhawk down, Blackhawk down....

Today I had a good day. Got out for about 0830hrs got the hide just right, set the coys out, look just right. Walked away and looked at the set up from a distance and it all look great. Climbed into the hide and looked out to admire the view and .... "O" **** there were 3 electric wire going across the 1100 O clock firing zone. To be truthful it really wasn't a problem but in did feel a bit:stupid:

However, I had many great shots today but one that stood out was what I've called my "Blackhawk down, Blackhawk down". Just as in the movie. I large crow came over high. He was on the low side of the wire but way out there. I took my first shot, #6 Eley. I hit him in the engine but he just kept flapping without loosing hight or moving away. It was like when the Blackhawk was hit, the rotors are still going & the pilot is realising he is in trouble. I could not take the 2nd shot for about 30 sec as he backed over the wires. It seemed a long time yet so little distance covered with the bird, just flapping trying to maintain altitude. As he cleared the wires, the 2nd shot (#5) straight into the engine and totalled the rotors and down, down, down he came.

Total bag 2 1/2 hrs. 31 crows.

Ok I've stopped blowing my own trumpet now
