activeviii
Was watching the birds build all last week on one farm, the farmer sprayed the rape on Thursday, with what i don't know, but after that the birds were no where to be seen. even the flight line across the farm was void of birds. would it be the spraying, if so how long we looking at before the birds at happy t feed on it again. On a differant farm last year, after the farmer had spread slug pellets, it was a bout 3 weeks before the birds came back but this other farm i cant see any pellets so i don't know what it was. Phil. Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
Hi probley sprayed it with some sort of fungicide like Arma because it been so mild 'makes it ever so bitter for a week or more . Same as slug pellets the crop is taken in the product and like us we are what we eat. Regards OTH
badshot
I too have been busy spraying the rape, at the moment it is plover (a fungicide) for phoma (a disease), falcon (to kill the wheat volunteers), and crawler (a residual herbicide to kill grass weeds). Probably be a week or two before they settle back again, if they don't find a nicer place to feed of course.
activeviii
I thought this might be the case. the rape on a whole is massive but there's areas with different grade soil so there only just starting to grow, thats where the pigeons were, just hope they come back now Phil.
