thinxs
I'm thinking of having a go at making my own leather cartridge bag and was wondering if anybody has got any templates for the peices required? olib007
and me! Is it not possible to make up a template from an existing bag though! (but if someones already done the hard work i'd love a copy )
thinxs
I would have thought that you could workout the templates but as said it would be easier if someone has already done the ground work. If you do work it out yourself from an existing bag you can at least adjust the size to accommodate the required carrying capacity.
Yellow Bear
I'm thinking of having a go at making my own leather cartridge bag and was wondering if anybody has got any templates for the peices required? You don't say which style you mean. 1 the rectangular type for 100 - 200 shells in boxes is relatively easy using measurements from the boxes. 2 the saddle bag type is a lot more difficult but a card template taken from an existing bag is possible. I have made both but you will find that sewing the heavy grade hide required is not easy, even with the correct tools and knowledge. Also the bar hinge at the back gives problems for even an expreienced leather worker. D You will also find it is not easy in the UK to purchase the leather you will require (best is "english bridle" ) as many of the outlets have closed down Jim will find it easier in the States as the "tooling leather" suppliers are still about and sell many templates and tools including some useful "handbag" patterns, unfortunately the company that used to sell these in the UK seems to have disapeared I will try to dig out some names during the week D Edited December 26, 2009 by Yellow Bear
thinxs
Hi YB, I was thinking of the sadle bag type. I think I can get my hand on some good quality leather which should be suitable. Anything you come up with may be usefull. Thanks
