Mr_Logic
55gr v-max should work well enough. For the deer a 55gr SP would probably be better, but the v-max will kill a roe no problem - you may have a little meat damage is all. In terms of powder, there are a hell of a lot that work well. I use, or have used, N130, N140, Varget, BLC2, H335, AA2230, AA2460, RL10X, RL15 Of those N130 has been about the best, but that's a 50gr bullet. There are too many choices in 223!! macca
Hi, I use 55gn nosler shots (cheap but very good prjectile) with 25.5 grains of AR2206H ( over your way H4895) with small rifle benchrst primers in lapua cases. Neck sized only. Extremely accurate out of my heavy barrled Sako 491. The Nosler shots are a very destructive projectile. Cheers
inthedark
Mr Logic has it spot on. I use 55g vmax over 26.2g of vit 140 in a heavy barrelled Remy 700 for fox and its very accurate. BUT. Every rifle likes different ammo, and you need to experiment. If I were shooting roe as well I'd go for a 55g JSP and try different powders / ammounts til it comes right. You wont go far wrong with vit 130 or 140 and load for accuracy, not speed. Good luck.
