The only period that is quite is when the farmer puts nitram on it about the 2nd week march it makes the rape biiter for about week maybe more if there is no rain to soak the fert in. I have shot pigeons on winter rape till april years ago does not seem to happen as much now. If the birds are not on your land then its tough shoot where the birds are not where you think they should be.
