ace63 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Share Posted February 4, 2010 i have sanded down a wooden stock, i now want to apply a protective coating that wont impair on the matt finish i used. what would be recommended for the job? thanks in advance First look on net for finishing kit you may get a good deal.You say you have put on a matt finish then it should only need a wipe over from time to time or a little natural wax polish (matt finish).IF sanded and bare wood you may wish to use a wood dye for colour but I have used matt or satin spray lacquer for the finish. Danish oil also ok you rub this in with a cloth and wipe off any surplus but takes a little longer to dry. if gun is of a higher value go to a good trade decorator centre and look at sadolin pv67 twin pack varnish(used on boats-dances floors ect) however last one I did all the prep and got the local french polisher to do the finishing cost about £40, NO JOKES ABOUT FRENCH POLISHING OR I MAY SEND IN THE MOTHER IN LAW !!!!!!!!!!!!
