Dan73
Hi all, I have a 2000 Disco TD5 - auto gearbox, which I love - its great for family stuff, fishing, shooting, cycling, camping - everything! Had a couple of little problems over the 2 years which I've had it - nothing major, always sorted out quickly and easily. I purchased it from a small independent family Land Rover specialist, it has always been serviced by them and I have received nothing but exceptional service from them. However, since last Friday I've had a problem which I think may manifest into something nasty.... When changing from 1-2, the gear box is really 'thumping' in, when changing from 2-3 its 'flaring', that is to say that it rev's itself higher and shoves it self up a gear. From there forwards, its absolutely fine. I took it back to the garage today and they spent an age looking at gear box oil, putting a diagnostic computer on it etc, and then took it out for a spin to see the problem for themselves. However they haven't come across this before and are a bit stumped. The upshot is that they are going to investigate it further this afternoon and I'll call them tomorrow morning - However, I thought that somewhere in the collective knowledge of the PW Land Rover Disco brigade the solution to this problem may have been discussed before?? The car was serviced last week - nothing to worry about, will need new brake pads in about 5k more miles - I drove to Exeter and back the day after (from near Milton Keynes) and pottered around locally of Friday - Saturday this problem started. I don't drive hard, although it goes over fields, up farmers lanes, there is nothing technically 'off road' to consider Cheers all Dan73
