Maize and Millet

Recommended Posts

We are looking at options for game cover on our syndicate shoot. Someone has suggested we sow maize and then broadcast millet into the seed bed. Apparently this will provide warmth in the maize and low level feed.

Does anyone have any experience of doing this or anything similar?

The shoot is in the North East of England on some fairly heavy soil. Any idea if maize and millet are suited to this climate / soil?

Thanks

We broadcast millet in and yes gives warmth but be carefull not to over do it as you will make it to thick and the birds will end up not liking it as we found on 1 strip this year every bird on the out side every time we came to shoot it :good:

As for the heavy soil should not be a problem as we sow in to heavy fen soil :drinks:
