Albertan_J
My 14month old Wheaten is great with me when it is me and her and even other walkers etc while out but as soon as she catches a glimpse of another dog she is away to play with them and I'm totally forgotten. Tried just about everything I can think of to break her out of this but I am now resigned to spotting other dogs before her and recalling her and putting her back on the lead until we've passed other dogs. Would like to take her beating next season but can see my day spent with a red embarrased face as she tries to play with the other dogs and I'm stood whistle in hand being ignored. Any advice guys? Imperfection
Find something she really adores-like a favourite squeaky toy and take that out on walks with you. You'll need to to spot the early signs of her wanting to see other dogs and then squeak the toy to keep her attention on you.Basically, you've got to make yourself more intresting that other peoples dogs. Albertan_J
I'll give that a try today thanks for the reply
UKPoacher
What you are actually doing already will work in time. The dog will associate seeing other dogs to coming back to you and will eventually come back before you give the recall. Once that happens regularly introduce her to other dogs on your terms. pyr8
you could ask one or two of the other dog walkers if you see them on a regular basis to shout at your dog if she runs to them.if they chase her off she will come back on command a bit easier. Thats funny becuase one of the only time she's recalled is when one of the lads out with his labs shouted at her and she came straight back to me. Took her favourite squeky pheasant out and she was spot on all the way down the lines until we caught up with a lady with a 6month old labradoodle they both ran off to play in the mud hahaha.... I'm sure I'll get there with somemore practice
