Benellimelody
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has a pair of the above and if so how they rate them. I am not too bothered about the rangefinder but thought it might come in handy when lampin and out with rifles. I have used a pair of 7 x 42 slc's a lot and they are excellent but just a bit steep in price. Will i regret getting the smaller size? How do zeiss/ doctor etc compare with swaro? To be honest i dont know that much about bino's but they would get a lot of use and i always work on the basis - buy cheap, buy twice Thanks for any help Cheers
moses
I have had SLC's and EL Swaros; both very good bins with excellent glass. I had a pair of Zeiss victory for a while but, returned them as they developed a fault still very good glass though. I now use Leica HD ultravids in 10x42 Swaro do not do an 8x30 R/F binocular its an 8x30 monocular rangefinder. I have the swaro rangefinder and it's very good but I wouldn't use it instead of bins. I would have a look at what Swaro, Zeiss and Leica have to offer in your price bracket and see what suits you best. If you want rangefinding bins then it's Leica Geovids and Zeiss victorys. Leica have just launched new Hidef versions of the Geovids so, there may be some deals around on the older model. Uttings have some good bino deals on at the moment and Mcleods in Tain are always competitive if you speak to Gregor. The latest ones I'm eager to get my hands on are the new Swaro HD EL's. Benellimelody
Thanks for that Moses - you know your stuff - think i'll forget about the rangefinder anyway and didnt realise it was a mono. I'll try out a few like you mentioned. Thanks again J
groach1234
Right this is how i see it: my mum has 10x32 el swarovskis and my dad has 8x32 slc swarovskis and my rother has some ziess 10x40s not sure what model by they are an old retro looking pair and i must say they were cracking and are substantially superior to the Swarovskis IMHO may grand parents got him them for his 21st and i am hoping it is a repeated experience for when i turn it they look like this >CLICK< Like i say only my very honest personal opinion. Also i feel they fit in the hand the best. George
Dead-Eyed Duck
I've got a pair of 10 x 42EL and 8 x 32 EL. I bought the 10 x 42 first, and they are brilliant in every respect, apart from the weight. When you are carrying a rifle at night equipped with a sound mod and bipod, the weight does matter if you are a little chap like wot I am. I bought the 8 x 32 as they are handier, and the light pick-up at night is almost as good. You pays your money and takes your choice. You do tend to get what you pay for. Why Swaro - because I tried Zeiss and Leupold, and in my opinion they were better. I had a mate who had a pair of Trinovid, and comparing them side by side on the night the Swaro were better.
