Huntinh advice needed

Hi all.

This is my first post so hope it is in the right place.

I am looking to buy an air rifle and have been offered a Crossman CO2 which claims up to 600fps velocity (0.22 calibre).

Is this enough to humanely dispatch rabbits and pigeons?

I have read that this will depend on weight of pellet to determine impact energy, but generally speaking from your experience, what do you think?

Great Forum by the way.

Depends on what size pellet has been used to calculate the advertised figures but assuming an average 14-15g pellet, it will give full power, so the short answer is yes, but there are a lot a variables, range and you being the main ones.

Thanks for your advice. I would agree that I am the main variable, but I am practising hard with targets before I aim at live quarry.

Thanks again.

Thanks guys.

I will chronograph it before i part with my cash. I expect that advertised figures (up to 600fps) is optimistic. If it is near full power I will test some different grain pellets to establish which one keeps below the fac limit.

Thanks for your help.

If the gun is capable of going over limit then don't buy it.
