chewy0013
If you get a .22 lr on your license do they specify what type of mechanism your allowed? Are there any real benefits to having a semi auto over a bolt action or vice versa? Atb Stuart
whitehackle
not on my firearms certificate just stated 22rf. Semi autos great for plinking i prefer bolt action for hunting as they are quieter to cycle and more reliable with subsonic ammo.
humperdingle
My 1st three variationa I just asked for .22lr, and was accepted. The fourth, however, and I was asked to specify action for some reason. As for why you would want either type... Semi auto can be great fun for plinking (I mean zeroing  ) and allow for quick follow-up shots as long as it doesn't jam, and they can get very dirty. Bolt actions are the most reliable action for feeding properly. Make you concentrate more to get the shot right the 1st time. I started off with a bolt CZ452, then a Winchester lever action, then a semi auto and back to a bolt. Too many times have I looked for a quick 2nd bunny, and the damn semi auto jammed.
