gwb
Im off to the practice ground this afternoon and in need of some advice. The thing is I dont want to go and shoot a round of this or that and learn nothing. Which is what I do most times. I really want to make the afternoon productive and actually learn something. Is there a routine that someone can recommend that they go through when practicing, so I can learn some technique and or sight pictures. beretta
try to shoot say 6/7 targets in exactly the same place. no later or no sooner. this will test your mental strength as most people tend to shoot quicker and quicker untill they miss one. by speeding up you alter the lead slightly untill the lead you started with is not right for the target you are taking sooner and results in a miss. 1 down!!!! if you hit the first do everything the same for the rest. lead = kill it keep it. miss it move it. Nicky T
Sound advice from Beretta as usual Totally agree with you gwb that its tricky not to fall into the trap of shooting a round of clays and calling it practice - i have the same problem myself! I currently try to stick to 2 or 3 similar stands e.g. L-R crossers, and practice them that session, trying to consistently break them in the same place. Next session i'll focus on a different type of target.
gwb
Thanks for the replies Nicky T - I always go with the intention of training , then shoot a couple of rounds of Compact sporting and then go home. When I first started at the ground just over a year ago the Instructor there got me shooting gradually target after target then move further away ect.I made some good progress, very sadly however due to ill health he had to retire. Beretta, too bad I live too far away as I would definately have booked a lesson There is a particular LR crosser that I will try on the Sporttrap this afternoon. Would you recommend skeet, maybe just on station 4 just to practice gunmount. Thanks again for the advice much appreciated
