im still in search of buying a scope for my air rifle...

i was thinking about the mtc viper 10x44 but after a little more research i found another contender "the falcon menace 10x42 IR"

to be honest i think the S.L.R reticle of the falcon looks alot better for the job and apparently the falcon build quality is much better aswell...

the viper vs the falcon menace.

whats the pros and cons? anybody own both of these?

i dont own either of them, but i have shot rifles which have them on. the viper is a great scope for the price. excellent build quality.

but the menace is alot better, ffp reticule so you can zero on 14x mag and shoot on 10x mag without altering the poi.

i say this because they dont sell the fixed 10x mag anymore, look out for a second hand one.

just my opinion of course. :good:

i think 10x mag might be a little high for hunting? if that what youre doing. id consider 8 or even 6

My Bushnell Elite 10x40 which is on my S410K is great as the parallax is set to around 35 yards so if the sight picture is blurry then I know that my target is out of range.10x power is fine as long as your parallax is set correctly!

10x high for hunting? for plus 35 yrds you'll find it hard to get a nice shot with 6x scope. i use 16x for long range (35+) 10x for med range (20-35yrds) and 6x for short range (below 20 yrds.) for an all round hunting scope 10x is good.

I agree Aaron. As I stated in an earlier post there's nothing wrong with 10x power as long as the parallax is set correctly.

bulletboy, are you baically saying that once the parallax has been set anything below that distance is in focus.. but anything after that distance is out of focus?

i thought parallax was just the cross hair inside the scope moving around when we move our eye to the eye piece?

as the menace 10x42 has been discontinued what would be a suitable price to buy one second hand "in good condition"?

had a look for prices on other forums, one guy said 90 quid... just want to make sure i dont rip myself off to much...

if its in good condition then its a good price.
