markyboy
when a field is first planted the pigeons will go for the loose seed,im wondering how long do you get at new planted field? is it just till the loose seed is all away? do the pigeons eat young shoots that start to come through? Toombsy
It's not 100 percent guaranteed that a newly sown field will draw any pigeons. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't, so the key is to keep an eye out. From what I've learnt, if the pigeons find a field like that, they will feed on it for 4-8 days or so, depending on the size of the field and depending on the weather. If it rains real hard then there's a chance that extra seed will come to the surface and the feeding will go on for longer. You've just got to keep checking the fields and be ready for when they move on to it.
