goldeneye243
I am looking into clay shooting and like the look of High Harthay as it is not too far from me. Anyone go there? I have only really shot at Lakenheath - How does it compare to there? Thanks in advance!
Wookie
I shoot there most weekends they are open, and a couple of other guys on here have been known to turn up too! Lakenheath is a lot more formal. High Harthay is a very relaxed "country"-style shoot, with traps behind/in trees and banks etc. It's my local, so I am a little biased about it, but I think it's a good shoot... Posibly because the food is good and they make nice tea as well. I think some of us were thinking about makign a run for there this weekend at some point, but I am not sure if/when they are open. So watch this space.
hairyduck
Wookie is spot on HH is a small family run place, doesn't have the bells and whistles of some of the other places but the targets on offer are always varied and challenging, people there are always friendly. Only 10 stands open at a time though they do have the new sport trap stands set-up now Lakenheath is a bit more clinical some excellent targets again but they only change every 6 months or so, or whenever they have a big competition on. Slightly more expensive but they're friendly enough. 20 stands to choose from + sport trap, DTL and 4 skeet ranges. I tend to visit both places in equal measures Edited March 29, 2010 by hairyduck
goldeneye243
I have only just posted off my application for my SGC, so I will pop over when I have got it (and a gun!) Is it a good place to buy cartridges from? Do they have any guns for sale there? Thanks in advance!

hairyduck
Their cartridge prices are excellent normally, they don't sell guns though. I can recommend either Fenland rural sports or whittelsey gun shop locally I have only just posted off my application for my SGC, so I will pop over when I have got it (and a gun!)
