Maltese Falcon
Well i managed to try my Terios on one of the fields i shoot on yesterday. It was not too muddy apart from a bit of the set aside on the rape field, i did find a bit of a mud pool and this little truck if you can call it that, went through it easily and did not even have to use the diff lock. Great as it means that i don't have to carry all the decoying stuff sometimes about a mile to get to the spot were i want to set up. I will now give the pros and cons of the terios. Pros. With the back seat folded flat, plenty of room for the decoying gear. It is very narrow therefore it can fit easily on most set aside. The engine is very quite, at times i thought that i stalled it but looking at the rev counter i realised it was still running, could be usefull for lamping rabbits although i don't tend to go for rabbits but another option to consider. Did not cost me an arm and a leg to purchase. Road tax £125 a year (1999 model ) Pre 2001, after 2001 i believe it will cost £215 for a 1.3 petrol engine. rip off or what. Insurance £155 fully comp. Will carry all your decoying kit, gun , cartridges etc easily. If like me you want a cheap 4x4 just to get you to a field for shooting and you are not 6 foot tall, it's perfect. Cons. It is very thirsty for such a small 1.3 engine. I recon not more then 30/35 MPG. It is not the fastest thing to drive, however if you want a fast car you would not buy a terios. Anything above the 70 miles MPH it weaves all over the place, i do not go above 60 MPH and it can cope well with that. ( unless it is very windy ) If you are tall, which i am not, you will be cramped inside. It feels very flimsy, not the safest to transport your kids in it, i use my estate for that. Don't take corners at speed as you could topple over.

Maltese Falcon
Road Tax bandsAt those rates I can't see me rushing out and buying a new Range Rover somehow but I like the idea of the Terios post 2001 model the 1.5litre falls into tax band J thats £215 per year and the 1.3litre band I thats £175 per year while my 98' 2.5 Litre Outback is £190 Have a look at the dvla website about car tax as there are changes as of april 2010. Road tax for terios 1.3 2001 onwards taxed under emmisions system tax is going up from £175 to £200 as it is band I. That was the reason why i did not want to buy 2001 onwards terios or jimny. You will also find that 1.5 and above cc is also going up from £190 to £205. regards
