Hi all

I've just picked up a synthetic Baikal and am very impressed with the overall quality of the gun, typical Russian approach to engineering!

Has any body got one?, and if so what loads and gas settings have you used so far?

The gun is 3.5" chambered steel proofed and I was wondering if frequent changes are req'd?. I've yet to use it in the field so anyones experiances are most welcome.

Cheers John

Hi Caplock,

I had a Baikal MP 153 about a year ago, it was nothing but trouble. If you loaded it but then didn't shoot it would jam solid if you drew the bolt back to unload the chamber.

Having said that I used to work for Budget guns and Tackle in Colchester who were the sole importer of Baikal shotguns at that time. Baikal were like anything else, you could get a bad one or a good one. I obviously got a bad one. On the whole I like Baikal shotguns, they are cheap, rugged will fire any cartridge you like and go on forever.

I changed the Baikal for an Extrema and apart from it not jamming up I wouldn't say it is any better shooting wise.

One word of advice, 66G cartridges hurt, even through a semi auto. My mate who I was shooting with reckons he has Gulf war syndrome after hearing one go.

Cheers

MC
