toads
Went calling before dark last night. I had good view of large area of pipe weed and white grass down one side of wood.Plenty sheep on grazing.Sat for an hour then moved forward with back to tree.gorze bush 15yds in front blocking my only bit of view.Thats where he came from!! Very very slowly tried to turn to my left - he went into bush-tiny squeak and out he came just managed to get him in scope.Hit low in shoulder went back into bush and out other side got 40yds and stopped shot it in neck all over in few seconds(but felt longer). My 243 zeroed 11/2 inch high at 120yds. Is it a case of putting target out 20/30yds to see where you hit when as close as this .thanks
Frenchieboy
Nice one Toads, but there is only one question being as it was so close without it seeing you - Did it have a white cane and dark glasses?

Is it a case of putting target out 20/30yds to see where you hit when as close as this .thanks In fairness matey, i would have thought that your point of impact will be less than 1.5'' high. With my .308 and 168gn bullets, going on your 1.5'' high at 120yds, my .308 would be shooting bang on at 30yds and 0.5'' high at 50yds, rising to 1.5'' high at 120yds. For my .243 shooting 100gn bullets, again working on 1.5'' high at 120yds, its shooting bang on at 30yds, 1'' high at 100yds, 1.5'' high from 100-120yds. If you havent got a ballistics calculator, i would suggest you have a look on the net. Its quite interesting and also gives you an idea of your POI without wasting lots of ammo.. Something to do on a winters night. I use Point Blank CRBS which is free off the net. Happy hunting!
