Barnsley-Matty Posted April 26, 2010 Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 Been 3 times in the last week on beans with a friend there about 2 inches high but the pigeons don't seem to want know. There has been a few pairs floating about but not in big numbers with only a few showing any intrest in the decoys would it be worth waiting a few weeks or try over the rape which is about 18 inches. pmiddy Posted April 26, 2010 Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 did you just turn up on the field and expect the pigeons to come , as you need to do a recce on your permission as you will find they are on the drillings or clover till about 2 as to this time they sit digesting there food till 3 then they top up till roost on rape . the beans are only good when first drilled then later in the season when the wind has knocked a few holes in it or harvest time and later . the pigeons are paired up so you wont see lots about as there is also more food source for them . if there is any drillings on your permission that is where you will get the good numbers but you still need to do a recce the day before you go as pigeons are creatures of habit and they will feed in the same place as before ( if not disturbed that is ) once disturbed they will move onto the next food source so keep watching hope this bit of info helps ( do your homework . lol ) cheers....................paul Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
UKPoacher Posted April 27, 2010 Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 Matty, The bean fields we have around Barnsley haven't attracted pigeons at all - yet. They will once the crop ripens and falls.
