deerslayer
Has anyone heard of the BASC Shooting Club in Northern Ireland? I happened to be in Ballykinler shooting with the Ulster Rifle Association yesterday and noticed that five strangers were being trained as Fullbore Range Officers, most were wearing some form of BASC logo on their clothing. At the end of the day I approached one and asked if the BASC were going to hold range days, this guy said he was with a shooting club started within the BASC. I said I had never heard of it and that I am a member and never had seen anything in any of the BASC emails. He explained that it was all kept very quiet but wouldn't say why. The funny thing is that I am a qualified range officer!! Is this the prelude to another money making training racket!!!!! Remember where you heard it first Deerslayer
Pinkfooty
Rather than speculate, why not give Roger Pollen a ring and ask him about it. I remember seeing something about a BASC Gun Club going through the minutes of the Northern Ireland Committee about 3 or 4 years ago but I cannot remember the details. David BASC
I don’t believe it - BASC tries to pilot and launch a BASC gun club in NI so more members can have a go a full bore shooting and someone accuses BASC of launching a money making racket!! We already do the same thing in England so members can use certain facilities that would otherwise be unavailable to them, and it is very popular - run out of the SE office by David Knowles In England and Scotland we also run stalking schemes so members can have easy access to stalking. We also run a wildfowling permit scheme via our affiliated clubs so members who are not in wildfowling clubs can have easy access to wildfowing. I would like to launch other schemes as well. Remember one of BASC's key objectives is to ensure you have the opportunity to go shooting..... Like PF says - why not call the BASC NI office to ask. By the way I am pretty sure it has been mentioned in the NI newsletters. ATB David
