mick miller
So I have acquired my Eliminator, which is in superb condition but I have a question regarding the dampa mount system. Having never come across this I'm a little uncertain as to how it should be set up, mine has a noticeable wobble if you grip the scope and give it a little bit of pressure. Should they move? It seems a bit odd as I'm used to scopes being screwed down solid with no movement or slack evident. Secondly, a prelim zero in the garden has the scope (it's a cheapo one and came with the rifle) slewed as far left as it will go. Can I shim the rings to bring it back to a more central position? Yes , the Dampa Mount does allow the scope to "wobble"as the two parts of mount are connected by shock absorbing rubber inserts.

terrier
A Dampa is made to reduce strong vibrations on your scope, normaly its out of the question that it is "wobbling". If you can "wobble" it by hand, throw it away, becouse it cant be accurate no more. your poi is gonna move by every shot.
Steady
A Dampa is made to reduce strong vibrations on your scope, normaly its out of the question that it is "wobbling".If you can "wobble" it by hand, throw it away, becouse it cant be accurate no more. your poi is gonna move by every shot. The rubber inserts allow "wobble" but reassert their position after absorbing the shock from of the kick from a spring powered air rifle. Hence"Dampa" for the dampening effect of the rubber inserts.Perhaps "wobble" is not really correct but movement is certainly perceptible even in brand new dampamounts. mick miller
Well, I'm taking a schlep up to the lovely folk at Theoben on Monday. There are other things I want to get checked out too (I'm sure its all fine though). Fingers crossed they'll give me the definitive 'yes they're fine' then. Thanks everyone for your help. fireshot
They do wobble a bit with a bit of pressure just make sure the little grub screws are done up had mine on my 97k and 25 year old 77 never had a problem.
mick miller
The definitive answer is: They do wobble when they're shot (as in they've had it), mine were shot. It's now nice and tight with new rubbers and no discernable movement. Edited May 17, 2010 by mick miller
