The witching hour

Had a good few hours last night on the golf course permisson.

We've been struggling, but keeping trying there for a few months now, and after realising they are very hard to lamp (they simply run as soon as the beam comes on) we have settled into the last hour after the golfers leave and before it gets dark... the witching hour! Trouble is we have been shooting it on foot which cuts the time down considerably and is hard work... the usual haul is just a couple.

I managed to clear it that we could take the 4x4 round last week, and boy what a differance that makes! No more lying in the wet grass, walking miles on end. Nope, a warm cab, hot tea a comfy seat and what more plenty of bunnies that dont spook!

This was the result of just 1.5 hrs shooting last night with the airguns. They have cleared us for both .22 and .17rf but at the moment we are finding it enjoyable shooting with the popguns. Longest shot last night was a headhsot at 46 yards.

Alot of small ones, but we've been told to clear them on regardless, so have stopped leaving them to fatten up. Had 11 in total with about 5 missed shots, but had to take the piccie here with 8 as it was getting dark, and no flash on the phone camera.

The .22 or .17's are the way forward on a golf course though...nice work with the airguns nonetheless :good:

Yeah I know! Only just had my SGC granted so missed the oppertunity to co-term them... anyway I'll probably still apply for it. Not sure which one though, probably the .22 as I gather it preserves the meat better and is quieter.

There's just something rewarding about knocking them down with an airgun though, it's more of a challange!

It does depend how many bunnies there are though! If there's just a few then an airgun is definitely more rewarding, that's why I've just bought another to replace my Harrier X, I miss having to stalk in close.
