rodp
I`m on the look out for a defender for everyday use and to also use for going shooting. I spotted this one just 10 minutes from me, but would like some opinions on It first http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv...us/60?logcode=p Is the price about right for the year and Is It really a 30th year edition jase. Methinks this is a con. I couldn't recollect a thirtieth edition, and if there was one it would have been in 1978. This, I think (I'm certain), is a rip off 50th model. If it was a genuine special edition why would you change the colour? Leave it be. I did double check just to make sure the old memory hadn't packed up altogether. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Defender scroll down to special editions. Hope this helps
weejase
I also done the wikidpedia search for a 30th edition which Is why I was doubting It The owner said that It was originally white and then resprayed silver. I`m going to phone him so I`ll do a bit of digging
rodp
I also done the wikidpedia search for a 30th edition which Is why I was doubting It The owner said that It was originally white and then resprayed silver. I`m going to phone him so I`ll do a bit of digging Ask him what it's the 30th anniversary of because LR was 1948 (+30 = 1978, +50 = 1998) It's not a 50th that's for sure but that's what 1998 should be. It may be some dealers anniversary model but that doesn't make it worth anything, or it could just be a ringer, hence the respray all over. Just walk away
MITCHF
30TH Anniversary ??? Never heard of that one, must be rare Why respray a rare anniversary edition ? Dooooooooooooooooodgy  Check this for a genuine one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Defender-...=item35a9b36b46 GOOD LUCK
ProteuS
Resprayed several years ago. it's a 98 it seems a little fishy to me. Although it may just have been a second owner deciding they didn't want white , however, special editions lr's are not usually white. Although the advert flags up loads of inconsitensies. as with all land rovers inspection is necessary. bulkhead etc. To be honest, for that sort of money i'd be keeping my eyes peeled for a nice county or county conversion. Although it is the 300tdi which doesnt have the engine ecu, it should / will probably have a spider unit. and certainly will have an egr. all things to look out for just to check originallity / indicate how well it has been looked after. Also It says it has a full headlining. If you want it as a shooting truck, you may want to put a shooting hatch in the back, the headlining would be a bit of a pain although it will drown out sound a little.
