Right then im going to knock together a kennel this weekend for a six year old cocker . She will be living in it all year round .

What size should i build it and what design would be best ? I.E pent or flat roof .

I even thought about making the roof removable so i could get in it to clean it . Wood im using is half inch plywood and 2x2 posts

cheers roadkill

Il give you a run down on the one I built!

First I built the floor from planking on a 2x2 base and put 10cm legs on it.

Next I built a 2x2 frame and screwed it onto the floor. The kennel is about 2 metres by 1 metre by about 1 metre high.

The door is about 50cm by 40 cm and has plastic flaps over it.

The outside of the kennel is shiplap timber. The frame is then filled with polystyrene board for insultaion and then the interior is boarded with ply. The roof is flat on an angle made from OSB board covered in roofing felt. The interior of the roof has a frame insulated with polystyrene and boarded.

The roof lifts off for cleaning and can be wedged open on hot days for ventilation.

Inside the kennel there is a tunnel type hall into the main section for draft blocking.
