Tayberries

Hi all. I have a Tayberrie bush in the garden and plan on making use of them this year in something other than Jam. I was thinking of adding them to either Gin or Vodka but have no idea where to begin or if it would even be drinkable.

Has anyone done this before? Or does anyone have any idea on which would work better (Gin or Vodka) What would I need to do?

Thanks in advance for any help. :good:

if you look back in the this part of the forum there are loads of posts on how to do it

REQUIREMENTS

1. AIR TIGHT CONTAINER LIKE AN OLD SWEETIE JAR FOR EXAMPLE

2. 1 KILO OR 2LBS OF FRUIT ...THIS CASE TAYBERRIES

3. 700 GRAMMES OR 1 1/2 LBS OF CASTOR SUGAR

4. 1 LITRE OF TESCOS GIN OR VODKA...OR BOTH IF ENUFF FRUIT!!

METHOD

1. TAKE BERRIES AND PIERCE THE SKINS IF SMALL BERRIES...IF BIGGER JUST CUT INTO BITS HALFS WHATEVER

THEN THROW INTO YER AIRTIGHT JAR

2. ADD YER SUGAR

3. ADD YER POISON OF CHOICE ( MAKE SURE AIR TIGHT!!!! DUCT TAPE IF NECCESSARY!! )

4 SEAL AND LEAVE FOR SIX MONTHS BUT LONGER THE BETTER IF YOU CAN RESIST IT. LEAVE IN A KITCHEN CUPBOOARD OR THE LIKE

5. FINALLY IMPORTANT BIT....EVERY DAY FOR 1ST 2WEEKS TAKE OUT N SHAKE ABOUT... THEN AFTER THAT SUGAR SHOULD HAVE GONE THEN TAKE OUT WHEN YOU REMEMBER AND SHAKE WEEKLY TILL 6 MONTHS ARE UP.

6. SIEVE AND BOTTLE SQUEEZING THE FRUIT TO GET ALL THE ALCOHOL OUT..... SERVE WITH TONIC OR LEMONADE OR EVEN TESCOS FRUITY FLAVOURED WATER ....DONE!!!!!

NOW DO ONE ONCE A MONTH AND YOU ALWAYS HAVE A BOTTLE " COMING OUT READY"
