pavman
just use on no more than 1/2 choke and it works ok as long as you use 2 size up on what you would use in lead or TM so if you shoot 5s use 3s in steel, for wildfowl 3s for duck and BB + for geese, i use 5mm in my 10 bore and Xtrema II for geese and its very effective out to over 60 yards
UKPoacher
Gamebore claim that their new steel shot doesn't even touch the barrels. Ten million cartridges and not a single busted barrel.
Guest topshot_2k
Steel shot use in older guns isnt just about barrel wear, the pressures are higher on some steel loads and so not suitable unless you gun is steel shot proofed. and even then there is standard and high performance steel proof, although most new guns are proofed for High performance steel now

Guest cookoff013
i heard that the steel the yanks are now getting is really hard. compared to the soft "iron" shot here. with the new wads there is no concerns with barrel errosion. why are they using this special hard shot? it is dirt cheap 10c a kilo. or so, made with a new shot maker. penultimately, shooters will go for the cheap option. cheap sells. it would essentially make us reload steel for £2 a box or even less.... ! poontang
i have a lanber o/u fixed choke single trigger cant tell you how old or what model If i was you i would find out what model/chokes you've got, then contact the importer/manufacturer and find out through them the suitability of your gun for the use of steel. Try and get it in writing too.......just in case!!
