neil smith
I have just applied for a semi .410 and slugs and a 12 bore rifle and slugs in North yorkshire. What are NY police like with issueing a variation for slug? I aim to buy a Tar Hunt 12 bore bolt action shotgun for bench rest shotgun shooting and a saiga .410 for target shooting on a 50m range. Is it me or is there something not quite right here ? a 12 bore rifle and slugs ?................. you mean a Shotgun Surely ? bolt action shotgun for bench rest shotgun.................... Ive heard of Target Shotgun & PSG but what the hell is bolt action bench rest shotgun ? and a saiga .410 for target shooting on a 50m range...............Possible, but there are no competitions for that calibre shotgun at present, so you will need to justify why you want it, a 12bore Saiga would make much more sense, & easier to justify because it can be used for NRA target shotgun & IPSC PSG competitions. If you have worded your application as you have posted here, then be prepared to answer quite a few questions from your FEO. N

N The FEO told me a 12 bore shotgun with a rifled barell was classed as a rifle, I am told in the states there is a very niche discipline of bench rest shotgun shooting where the most common gun is a bolt action shotgun with a rifle barell. I have been told that just because there is not competitions specificaly for a certain calibre that can not be used as an excuse to stop you owning a gun in that calibre. Apparently a test case was taken on 2003 and this fact was accepted. I already have a 12 bore sec 1 gun I spoke to my FEO before hand and I used his guidance when filling in the form, however I am expecting some hassle as I also asked for a SGC 9mm unicorn and a long barelled pistol in a large calibre. Guest gloker
You ask about 'red-dot' sights. I have a Benelli SuperNova pump fitted with an Eotech 512.A65. I use it for 'target shotgun' with slug and find it absolutely great (it is a little on the big side, however). All the best Andy Quick question, how did you fit the eotech to the benelli? did you have to screw into the action or rib adapter? I ask as Ive got an eotech and wouldnt mind fitting it to my semi auto. (just to give it a try.) Thanks, G
