Grandalf
I have shot 22.250 Federal Soft Point for several years. Never had a problem with them before. They don't give the tightest group through my Tikka T3 but they do the business at foxes and show a good kill rate - expansion is very good. Had problems recently with latest ammo purchased. 3 certain kills were missed. Checked gun, scope, Reflex T8, etc - all seemed to be OK. Checked zero. Couldn't shoot a good group. OK for windage, but big variation in vertical plane - four inches at 100 yds. Found I could still shoot a thumbnail group with some Remington ballistic-tipped. Checked Federal cases and found several of the caps had become detached from cartridge base at time of firing. Found some old stock in my cabinet and these threw a good group. Therefore I presume speed being affected by faulty cartridge. I have spoken to my gunsmith but not had the opportunity to return the faulty rounds yet. No-one else has reported problems to him. Has anyone else out there had the same problem? Comments?
kent
Factory ammo varies from batch to batch, could also be a storage issue at your place or the dealers. The answer to all ammo issues is reloading your own to a proven recipie
