Out for an hour

After spending all day boarding a wall in the conservatory for the wife,i had to get out,so i grabbed my new toy,escort semi auto,and took the dog for a walk round one of my small permissions,i wasn't expecting anything,it was just to unwind.

 

First thing i noticed was that the field of barley had collapsed,so i know where i will be decoying soon,as there is a huge wood bordering the field.

As i walked down the side of the field,i noticed the barley moving in front of me about 30 yards away,first i thought it was jake my dog,so i gave a whistle and he popped his head up about 10 yards to my right,oh i'm thinking foxy,so i give a squeak on the back of my hand,and it comes in like an express train,i signal jake down,and he drops like a stone,he knows what's coming,foxy gets about 10 yards away and then sees my ugly mug ,it starts to turn,but gave me the shot i was looking for,it stood no chance as i let the 12 bore rip,head shot job done,it was a young vixen.

 

A couple of minutes later,just after i had taken the photo,a woodie came right to left,and was fairly high,i took the shot and down it went,straight into the thickest part of the woods ,i sent in jake,and i thought there was no chance of him finding it,but after a couple of minutes,out he came pigeon in mouth tail wagging,good boy :the head was hanging off,it must have been jammed in a fork of wood.

 

So not a bad little walk around,its the second time i have taken the hatsan out,and its my first semi,i have to say i am impressed,cycled lovely,good recoil pad on it i use 30g no 6,for a lower end of the range shot gun,i love it.

What cart did you use for the fox and what range was it??

Used a 30g no6,as i was out for pigeon,but from the range i shot it (10 yds) it was going to stop it dead.(look at the foxes ear,you will see where he was shot)

The pic of jake was taken last month,He was posing because he knew i was taking his pic.

 

What size cart are you using for your escort,as it may be light loads lacking the power to re cock.
