wacker
Hi, thinking of buying a Webley&Scott 700 sbs. Has anyone used these & what are your views on these English Boxlocks. It has 26"barrels & is choked at ic &1/2. I already have a clay busting gun, but like the idea of an English gun that i can afford as well! Any info or links would be great. white fox
There are at least 4 on Guntrader ranging from £995 to £1,750 They look really handsome, if you got the readies I would go for it, no second thoughts. I switched from O/U beretta to S/S years ago, best thing I did. Even though my S/S's are both spanish, still love them. RAMMER BURT
go for a late (ie1970 onwards better wood and build quality also make sure you get a 3 month waranty my mate bought one last year from alderkins paid £1100 quid for it then went to a gun smith because he wants the stock shortened the gun smith took the barrels off to look at the ejectors and noticed the rib had come away from the barrels to re solder and reblue the barrels £350 quid luckily he rang the gun shop and they are going to take the gun back and do the work their excuse was it had not been through the work shop also these guns were given to keepers for free as part of the job the yanks are buying them in sheds loads so price are high but this does mean most of the good ones are now living over the pond :(
wacker
It was built in the 70's, & is in top nick, chequering is good as is the blueing. It still has some of the original colour left on the action. I will need to get the stock cast as i'm a lefty but the shop said they could do it for the same price. plinker
i have a nice one that i bought off a family friend who was retiring from shooting trouble is it is a bit too good for rough shooting ,like you i allready have a clay gun and have since brought an old winchester 101 o/u for my rough shooting but the webley is a pretty little thing and as it eats no grass i am keeping it to use occasionally and because it also is a good longterm investment. plinker
