Miroku stock care.

Iv got a new Miroku recently (I might have mentioned it...) and the stock is nice and smooth but the finish was abit thin looking its hard to explain but it looked like the oil was sat on the wood rather than in it.

The book recommended Legia spray and I happened to have some that I was given years ago.

Has anyone used this stuff?

It seems more like polish than and oil finish, I put a couple of coats on and when i buff it off as per instructions the only difference is the smell and the wood is slippy!!

Iv also got some "Phillips Engish walnut oil prep" and was thinking about using a little of that on it.

Will it affect the finish if I use a different kind of oil on top of what is already on?

I hope someone can help me here.

Cheers, Dave.

Depends on what finish you start with ... several seem to use a surface finish on new guns ... quick spray and away!!

If you fancy doing it yourself there's several good kits ... or read the thread on stock refinishing on PW ... should see you thro the freeze.

Legia do a wood spray in a green can but reds not a problem

Surface finish? can they do a surface oil finish?

According to the handbook mines got an oil finish I assumed it would have had oil rubbed in obviously not for weeks like a top grade gun... I just want to add to it and try and waterproof it a bit better.
