weejohn
I popped into westlands today asking when the clay shooting was starting back up again. The new people who are taking over seem 100% and said they should be fully open come the middle of january. All the clay traps are being fully re-conditioned at the moment but are having a boxing day shoot. I havnt got the full details of the shoot as they are still to be confirmed but i am delighted it is soon going to be up and running again. BlaserF3
Glad to hear that weejohn, I thought that it would not reopen. All it needs now are some shooters to use it.
weejohn
Absolutely blaserf3, i just hope not too many have been put off by how it was. As long as the traps work i will be there i am confident the guy will do a cracking job. Its a shame it gets dark so early as i might not make the burntkettle and westlands shoot. BlaserF3
weejohn, have you any idea who has taken it over?
weejohn
Nope, i got the impression from the guy that they have moved over here from ireland just for this place as he was saying about bringing some buggies with him from ireland for the other things that go on there. He has also got new quads and paintball guns and the cafe bit is being re-furbished at the moment. Tony is being kept on to help with the running of things. Swamp Beast
as long as the traps work, the punters will return. I got annoyed with firing 50 carts and going back with a counter reading of 80+. The number of non working traps and duff broken clays was annoying and costly
BlaserF3
The last time I went was in October and only four stands were in action and the skeet layout ran out of clays. When the Winstanly's ran it they put on a good shoot but after a while a lot of people stopped going. I have no idea why though.
border reiver
Update since the last post...the facility came under new ownership in May and the clay ground is undergoing extensive improvement and well worth a visit. It's open 7 days/week, handy for midweek practice. Details are on their new Facebook page...
